We are heading out again. This time North to Morton, IL. Pumpkin capitol of the world. We are going to a 40th anniversary party for the in-laws of my friend Rob Lane. This will be the first time in four years that we can be together with both of our whole families.

Here is a picture of the Emily and Sam at Rockhome Gardens in Il Amish country. We spent the day in Amish country with Grandma and Grandpa Best. BTW The girls are holding pieces of wood sawed by a horse powerd saw and woodburned by a blacksmith.
fun day planned
We have a fun day planned here in Il today. We are going to travel and see a nearby Amish settlement. We also are going to an old fashioned dry goods store. The kids are having a blast. Grandma and Grandpa set up a pool, trampoline, and Nintendo.

we are here
We arrived safe and sound at my mom and dad’s in IL. We made it here in 7 1/2 hours. We were on the road by 5:15 am and made excellent time. We even stopped for breakfast at Cracker Barrel.

please pray for the garner’s again. we just found out that the county is going to press charges for involuntary manslaughter and child abuse. the preliminary heairng is tomorrow. they are in desperate need of prayer!
taking off
Friday morning we are going to leave bright and early to travel the 8hrs to my family in central-Illinois. We will be back next Tuesday and the kids are going to stay for a few days by themselves and then I will go pick them up Friday night in Anderson, Indiana.
I was very excited that I was able to take care of some admin issues online quick and easy. The US Post Office, and the Free Press. Next time you are going away I recommend it.

weekend away
Syndie is away this weekend without me and the kids. She is in Canada doing a couple of singing gigs with her Dad and sister. They have one concert tonight in Sarnia and Sunday night they will be in Dresden. We would have gone with but the girls are still on traveling restrictions from the Dr. The kids and I are hanging out doing chores and running a few shopping errands.

dielema of change
Change is never easy but I am re-discovering that a lifestyle of change is part of what it means to be a faithful disciple of Jesus. Below are a few passages that I am mulling over as I try to actualize this paradigm of life-change.

flower beds..
This year we were finally able to plant some flowers in the spring since we purchased our house three years a go. Below are some comparison pictures from when we first planted in May and what they look like now in July. I also included a picture a purple hanging basket that I am particuarily fond of because it had shriveled up and almost died and I was able to give it some TLC and nurse it back to health.
