tomorrow…

Tomorrow is my last day before a long holiday weekend that starts on Friday. I was scheduled to do a wedding on Friday night but a sister of the bride called and the wedding is off. This is the first time this has happened to me. I feel bad that something was not working out for them but I was counting  on the $$ from the ceremony to go a special family trip. I guess I need to not count my chickens before they hatch.

I also had to take our new dog to the vet last night. She has a respiratory infection called kennel cough. She caught it at the Humane Society. Cases of kennel cough within 10 days of adoption do not incur a charge for treatment. So now she needs to rest, steam treatments, and antibiotics.

Friday will be a home veg/chore day and then on Saturday we are going to risk crossing the boarder to visit Syndie’s mom and dad in Canada.With it being a holiday weekend it could be bad.

bright and early

Everyone at the Best House is on "school schedule" now! Today I was up at 5:00 am in order to ease into being up at 4:00 am next week. The kids are also going to bed at 8:00 and getting up at the time they will need too next week when school starts on Tuesday. It’s hard to believe that summer is just about over. Today at 5:00 the kids can find out who there teachers will be this next year.

Rest is important!

My wife caught me, JJ, and the dog having a serious nap. Just trying to do our part in having a day of rest!

Sam Is 8 !!!

Today my precious Sammy turns 8 years old. She was a bright spot in our lives while we were living in a barren desert place. I still remember the day she was born like it was yesterday. The night we brought her home we had a power outage due to a thermal overload and an a extra-grace widow named Phylis wanted me to come in the middle of the night to fix her water heater.

Happy wishes for my Sam and this next year of her wonderful young life.

Introducing Bella

As you can see from the two previous posts we have a new family pet. She is a 1 yr old Beagle mix that we adopted from the Westland Humane Society. We chose the name "Bella" which is Italian for "beautiful". She is a wonderful dog for our family. She is great with the kids and loves to play. The last couple days she has been taking it easy as she recovered from her "operation". She has also been taking lots of time to check out her new home and surroundings. We have already discovered that she loves to fetch and go for walks. We are all very excited to have Bella as a part of out family.

weekend recap

Friday-
Grilled a delicious dinner of boneless pork chops. (I was also home all day with kids) We went to three store doing errands and grocery shopping. Then we came home and unloaded van and built a fire on the patio and made smores with marshmallows, milk chocolate, and gram crackers.(I had to spell that out for any Canadians that might be browsing this post)
Saturday-
I had to go into work and shampoo the parish office complex which is why I was home Saturday. Saturday night we went to Dundee for the first annual Hovey Bash(video upload). The was great music by two bands. We partied into the wee hours. It was lots of fun and hopefully the first of many!!
Sunday-
It was a glorious day. We put a blanket under the maple tree in the backyard and had a wonderful nap listening to the birds and the wind blowing through the tree. It made us feel like young newlyweds living in Chicago 13 years a go. After that we went to the Wayne Aquatic center swimming.

It was an awesome weekend!
