Indian Summer
Today is a beautiful day!! (literally) It is 69 degrees outside and sunny. I hope we get more than just one day of this. It is a shame that last weeks rain, wind, and cold knocked all the leaves off the trees. Well now it is time to go out and enjoy this beautiful day.
recent book coversation
Recently I was discussing a book with some friends and we closed our discussion with this quote.
If you are a part of this kingdom, you won’t be blindly patriotic and compliant … instead you’ll be willing to confront injustice, even at the cost of your life. You won’t nestle snugly into the status quo, but you’ll seek to undermine the way things are to welcome the way things could and should be. …If you are a part of this kingdom, you begin to live in a way that some will say is stupid and naive. But others might see in your way of life the courageous and wild hope that will transform the world.
This is a huge task, that can seem overwhelming! One could easily look at what is at stake and say why bother, what could one person do. Which has prompted me to create a new posting category called "eating the elephant". In these post I hope to share small ways in which me or my family are finding ways to undermine the things are in order to welcome what could be.

It was a balmy 31 degrees on my way to work this morning at 4:30. The Fall season is beginning to fade fast. I still have not been able to take very many Fall pictures with my camera. I guess I had better hurry up.

Light up a life
Today is a big day for Syndie! It is the annual huge fundraiser for Angela Hospice. It is called Light Up A Life. She left a few minutes a go and will be home around midnight tonight. It will be a ton of work but I know she will do a good job and it is for a great cause. Below is a link of the promo blurb.
"The Fabulous Fifties await…" is the theme of the Light up a Life
Benefit, including a strolling dinner catered by the Diamond Center’s
exclusive caterer Epoch Events Catering and featuring Epoch Restaurant
Group’s very own Forte and Tribute Restaurants, dancing to live music
with Steve King and the Dittilies, 1950’s cars, soda fountain, candy
station, raffles and more! All proceeds benefit Angela Hospice’s caring
programs for patients and their families.
Some New Web and Blog Sites I Stumbled Upon
Every now and then I have a chance to truly "surf" the internet randomly doing Google searches on topics of interest to me and following the trail of links that I stumble upon. Below is a sampling of some of what I discoverd and plan to keep checking out in the future.

Syndie and I believe that the Bible is an excellent source for instruction on how to live life in a manner that is pleasing and appropriate to God. We have always had a desire to encourage our to spend time with the Bible to learn from it. There are a lot of ways that people try and do that. Some comman methods are force feeding, bribe, and guilt. We have really tried hard to show that it is important but also not try and force it onto the kids. This past weeks we have begun to see some new signs of interst that are very exciting to see and help to nuture. Below is a picture I took of my daughter Samamntha when she was trying to look at a Bible passage all on her own. I don’t share this to say we have it all figuered out out as a parents but it is cool to see signs of life every now and then and it ecourages us to keep trying eaven when it might not seem like much is happening.
