It’s Official

Filed under: Current Affairs — jimlbest @ 6:55 pm

I received word today from Samantha’s teacher Mrs. Worth that I was elected to serve the Schweitzer Elementary School PTA as co-president with Mrs. Paula Hutton. I am excited to see what happens as I serve the school community in this way.

Please Pray for Syndie’s Family

Filed under: family — jimlbest @ 3:40 pm

I just received a tearful call from Syndie. Syndie just received word that her niece Victoria Kivell has been placed with a foster family. To give a little background Victoria was adopted by Syndie’s brother Brian from Ukraine about six years a go. In the last few years they have been having some serious behavior issues with her. Last year they were able determine that the problems were stemming from a condition called Reactive Detachment Disorder or (rad). read links for more info here and here . The family has been under severe stress for the last couple of years as they have tried to navigate these turbulent waters. So her Mom and Dad have made the difficult decision to give her up in order for her to receive better care and treatment. It is a terrible decision to have to be in as a parent. Please pray for this whole family as they grieve and try to come to grips with this dilemma.
