Justice in the burbs

Filed under: Eating An Elephant — jimlbest @ 4:11 pm

I have started to do some research this past year regarding how to live as a fully devoted disciple in a Metro-Detroit suburb such as Westland. I heard about this book in a Sojourners article. I have ordered the book and plan to post a review of it later this summer.

Family Outing

Tonight we went to a concert of the Tommy James Orchestra at the Westland Public Library. They played Big Band and old time Swing Music. They musicians were very good although there were only four of them so maybe they should have been a quartet and not an orchestra. The kids had fun dancing along with their hip-hop interpretations of Big Band Music. Then it back home and off to bed. All the kids this week will be at camp. JJ will be at the YMCA and Em and Sam will be going to a day camp at the community center. So they should all have a fun week ahead. Now I am going to adult fun like clean up and fold laundry.

Visit to Dr. Office

Today after lunch I stuck my left hand in the cargo pocket of my shorts and cut open my finger on a razor blade. I tried to stop the bleeding but I could tell from past experience that it was going to need some stitches. So, I went to the clinic prescribed by my employer and received three stitches on the end of my middle finger on my left hand. I get to go back in one week to have the stitches removed. I will try to be care when I show people my injury as to try and not be to offensive.
